For years now, the Sporting Club Sardinia has been also specializing in kitesurfing, giving aficionados of this sport (beginners and not) the chance to start learning it or improving their abilities thanks to a wide range of courses fitting any level, and with highly qualified instructor.
During the course, which can be followed by a maximum of 3 people at time and which is supported both by an instructor on the beach and one off-shore, you will be asked to bring along the complete equipment (kite, wetsuit, trapeze, life jacket and helmet).
The big day has arrived. The Sardinia Grand Slam starts today, the final of the 2016 World Kite League which will award the title of Kiteboard World Champion in Freestyle and Big Air. The event will really come to action on Monday 17th and it will characterize the beautiful beach of Porto Pollo until Saturday 22nd. It is organized by GLEsport with the technical and logistic support of Sporting Club Sardinia, under the aegis of IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), and with the support of the Regione Autonoma (Autonomous Region) of Sardinia together with the Department of Tourism and the Municipality of Palau.
While we wait to see in the water the top international riders fighting for the title of World Champion in Freestyle and Big Air, yesterday the Italian kiters (5 women, 10 juniors and 20 in the open draw) battled in the finals of the Italian Championship for Freestyle and Big Air.
garofalo action1Although the conditions made it very difficult with gusty and challenging wind for riders to find the right time to perform, the Junior and Female categories were completed as well as the main part of the Open male, up to the finals for the award of the podium.
The names of the winners will be revealed only today during the awards ceremony, but surely the names of the heroes of yesterday Heat are no secret. For the Junior category it was a battle between Contini and Andrea Vicari. For the women the battle was among Bagnoli, Tomasoni and Piccioni all three of them fighting for the podium.
On the other hand for the Open Male category everything is still possible and the title is still there to be fought for.
This morning it is expected the very much awaited final between two Lazian riders, the reigning Italian Champion Gianmaria Coccoluto and Gabriele Garofalo.
Wind permitting there will also be the Losers Final (3rd and 4th place) for the Open Male and Junior categories and the female Double.
Therefore see you in the water in a few minutes for the grand final of the National Freestyle and Big Air Championship and then spotlights on the parterre of the Sardinia Grand Slam.
